Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will continue being excellent to one another, as both have been announced to return for a third installment of the Bill & Ted franchise. It was revealed this week that the title of the upcoming feature will be Bill & Ted Face the Music.
Alex Winter, who portrayed Bill for the first time in 1989, announced on Twitter that both he and Keanu were already tuning their air guitars, after producers announced the project at Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday, May 8th.
Bill & Ted Face the Music will find our protagonists struggling with family responsibilities now that they are middle-aged. Having failed to write the greatest song of all time, the duo receives a visit that warns them about how the future depends on the creation of an excellent tune.
Writers Chris Matheson (Imagine That, A Goofy Movie) and Ed Solomon (Men in Black, Now You See Me), who wrote the original script, will team up again to bring the time-traveling duo back to the big screen. Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane) will serve as the director, and MGM’s Orion Pictures is set to release the film, although no date has been confirmed for it.
Hopefully, the production will revisit Arizona to film again, just like in the first film released in 1989. If you have thoughts on the revival of the franchise, feel free to share them with us at Cinema35!
